The problem with this pandemic is : good deed is not correlated to reward. We collectively know that if everybody do nothing we will really badly saturate hospitals and that will kill some people (how much they would have live is another debate). The disease is not really everywhere, so there is a part of luck in getting it or not, so people have the feeling that some do good deeds 90% of the time can get it and some doing shit 90% of the time don't get it. In the end, some feel they are punished and some think it is useless. But remember that the number of deaths is due to massive constraints in the whole world, the number without any action would be mind-blowing.

Wearing a surgical mask protects others, not yourself. And only from bacteria, not viruses. That's why everyone needs to wear them in order for it to work. FFP2 and FFP3 masks protect both the wearer and others from contamination.

The amount of misinformation here is depressing. Masks works both ways: if you wear it correctly, it can protect others if you're infected and it can protect you if others are infected.

People are too hung up on this being a thing because they want to feel safe and they feel goot about berating others about how horrible they are, because that's all that matters now; Feeling safe and superior to others. You're not safe, there are no guarantees and while you're being smug people are rioting and threatening politicians over all of this having gone on for too long. Feel free to wear your mask, but don't expect others to care anymore. Most of you jump to conclusions immediately and try to ram your morals down the throats of others and excuse it with it being for 'the greater good'. As for the masks, they do jack shit apart from limiting the spread of a cough or sneeze. You got symptoms? Stay home. Can't take the risk of getting sick? Stay home. It's that simple.

Almost 1 year into the pandemic and still people don't understand that those things don't do anything, they are useless. They are a fake sense of protection. If those masks would actually work: why are there still so many people getting Corona even in countries where those things have been mandatory from the beginning?
